March 2020 Message from President, Susie Hayman

Dear NAPO colleagues,

This time of year, leading up to NAPO’s Annual Conference is always a busy season for NAPO. Planning an event like Conference is huge; there are so many pieces that have to come together. That, coupled with elections and appointments on the national and chapter levels, marks an eventful time for NAPO.

In February, we announced the results of the 2020 Board of Directors election. As your President, I am positive and excited about both the present and future of NAPO.

These colleagues, elected by you, will continue their service to NAPO in varied ways:
• Amy Tokos, CPO – President-Elect
• Sharon Lowenheim, CPO – Treasurer
• Jan Lehman – Member Director

As you know, Amy and Sharon have been serving on the NAPO Board for the past two years; each of them has one year remaining on their three-year term as Member Director. They will be moving into a new role and a new term, which creates a vacancy for one year of their current terms. Per NAPO Bylaws, I, as President, with the approval of the Board, may appoint individuals to fill any vacancies.

I’m thrilled to announce that I have appointed Nadine Levy and Janet Schiesl, CPO for one-year terms on the Board, and the Board approved the appointments at our February 2020 meeting. Please join me in congratulating them – Nadine for serving another year on the Board and Janet for agreeing to serve for one year. I’m excited for them and for NAPO.

Your NAPO Board prides itself on being a cohesive and collaborative group of varied individuals. I speak for all of us when I say that our goal is to always have what’s best for NAPO top of mind. We promise to keep you informed of NAPO’s strategic direction, as we make decisions and act on your behalf.

You may have heard me say this before. Yes, serving on the NAPO Board has given me a feeling of personal fulfillment and accomplishment. More importantly, being mentored by my predecessors and mentoring my colleagues has taught me how to be a better leader and grow as a person. For that, I value all of you who came before me, those who are here with me, and those who will follow after me.

Warm regards,

Susie Hayman NAPO President
