NAPOCares Update on Fundraising for the Presbyterian Night Shelter

NAPOCares Update on Fundraising for the Presbyterian Night Shelter – by Brenda Tringali, NAPO Member Since 2014Brenda Tringali

“Thank you so much for the kind and generous donations made by the members of NAPO. Through your generosity, NAPO helped us directly impact the lives of those most vulnerable, our homeless neighbors. The increased effort of our professional staff to end homelessness would not be effective without the partnership we have with YOU. Your support is critical to this equation. It costs nearly $16,000 per day to operate all of our program services. Thank you for advocating for and supporting our guests in their journey from homeless to home.” These heartfelt words were sent by Betsy Beaman, Director of Communications for the Presbyterian Night Shelter (PNS).

As you may or may not know, PNS (in Ft. Worth, TX) was the nonprofit selected by the NAPOCares Committee as this years’ recipient of fundraising held before and during the NAPO2019 Annual Conference. PNS has worked to eliminate homelessness in Tarrant County since 1984. In fact, PNS is the largest provider of services to the county’s homeless and shelters approximately 670 people each night. But PNS goes above and beyond emergency shelter. They are also dedicated to helping guests move into their own homes and they help them get there with housing assistance that includes job training, employment assistance, life-skills education and much more.

NAPO members were given the option of 2 different donation options – either a monetary contribution or purchasing items from their Amazon Wish List. On behalf of the NAPOCares Committee, I’m thrilled to announce the results of NAPO’s generous donations:

Monetary Donations: 37 = $1,466.26

Amazon Wish List Purchases: 57 = $655.56 (total value of items purchased)

GRAND TOTAL OF $2,121.82

For those of you who are unfamiliar with NAPOCares, it’s NAPO’s Social Responsibility committee. Our goal is to let the world know that NAPO cares and to show how NAPO members give back to communities each and every day, regardless of their specialties. NAPOCares promotes the annual events/community outreach efforts of NAPO members as they reach out to share the three “T’s” of social responsibility: their Time, Treasures, and Talents.

Activities include:

  • Annual fundraising in the host city of the NAPO Annual Conference (location varies year to year)
  • Annual promotion of GO (Get Organized) Month activities. Each January, NAPO chapters, multi-person businesses, and members host organizing and/or productivity events in their communities that empower individuals, families, and businesses to regain control over their surroundings, time, and possessions
  • Ongoing promotion of community outreach activities that NAPO members perform each and every day, work-related or not. Whether it’s teaching a free class, organizing a shredding, recycling and/or donation event or serving food at a soup kitchen, we want the world to know that NAPO Cares!

I’ve been involved with NAPOCares since 2016… first as a member, and then assuming the role of Committee Chair in 2017. Volunteering my time to a cause I’m passionate has brought me more joy that I could ever imagine.

If you’re a NAPO member and are interested in learning more about NAPOCares and/or joining our committee, please email me at brenda@AtYourFingertipsOrganizing.com. Help us to show the world that NAPO Cares!
