Getting Out of Your Head and Into the Moment

Staying busy, having a long to-do list and checking off those boxes, keeping track of all the projects in your business and at home, hopes, dreams, weekend plans – you have a lot spinning around in your head. Sometime we have so much going on, so much to think about, that it becomes paralyzing. But guest Rachel Henke is here to help. Her life’s work is all about helping people get unstuck – out of their own minds and into the present moment.

On this episode of Stand Out: Growing Your Organizing and Productivity Business, host Sarah Karakaian talks with guest Rachel Henke about what it means to live fearlessly, which she describes as the ability to live in the moment, focused on the present and practicing effortless productivity.

Rachel and Sarah start by talking about Rachel’s background. Living fearlessly – living in the moment – was not always Rachel’s first impulse. In earlier years, stress and anxiety would eat at her, even while she was doing and achieving a lot of great things. But she realized living a stress-filled life was just not sustainable.

As Sarah and Rachel discuss what changed, Rachel describes a period of seeking, looking for answers. Through this process, she began to realize a few things. The endless drone of “I need to do this, I need to do that,” in her head was exactly the thing that prevented her from being productive.

What is the alternative? Sarah and Rachel talk about both the difficulty and the simplicity of living in the moment, of focusing on one thing at a time. Rachel advises not trying to control our thoughts, but to simply let the thoughts pass, so they do not deplete our time and energy.
